We begin our adventurous year together with lots of Teddy Bears all around us ~
from our room decorations to our Helper Bears Chart and more.
That's because I love teddy bears.
I've collected quite a few over the years - many as gifts from former students!

This Theme decor will stay up for the first 3 or 4 weeks in September.
It's our time to get to know each other and

learn how we will work and play together in our classroom this year.

             Let's Begin Projects Page

Our room is ready to go for our all-school Open House which is usually held a few days before the start of school.
This is a time when all families can come and meet their new teachers and see their room for the first time.
It's a happy time and really helps those first-day-of-school jitters ~
even for the parents!

I have a big, cute poster of a teddy bear surrounded by bright yellow stars with each child's name on one.
They have fun looking for their names!
This bulletin board will stay up until the last week of September,
and the stars will be saved for our "Special Friend of the Week" routine we will begin in November.

Teddy Bears are on their name tags and their desk name plates.

We have a special Teddy Bear who sits next to a box of bear books, and he's our mascot for the year.

Later on towards Spring we do spend a week on Teddy Bears and
compare several versions of Goldilocks and the Three Bears,
as well as stories of Corduroy.

My Teddy Bear

A Teddy Bear Is a faithful friend.
You can pick him up at
either end.
His fur is the color
of breakfast toast
And he's always there
When you need him most.

~ Marchette Chute

 Bears

 Bears like honey
That comes from bees.
Bears like to nap
Under shady trees.
Bears can be cuddly,
Or big and mean.
My little Teddy Bear
Is the cutest I've seen.
He's at my side
When I'm happy or blue,
Here's to my Teddy Bear
"I love you!"

Important Rules
(Tune: Twinkle, Twinkle)

Here are some rules for you and me,
See how important they can be.
Always be honest, be kind and fair,
Always be good and willing to share.
These are rules we all should know,
We follow these rules wherever we go.

We Have Rules

We have rules.  We have rules.
Rules to keep us safe at school.
We use inside voices and walking feet,
(point to mouth, then to feet).
We don't touch or bother the friends we meet.
(Hug self and shake head)
And when we're eating we stay in our seats,
(sit and pretend to eat)
'Cause we have rules
At our school.

  ~ Priscilla M.. Starrett

 Rules Rap
(lightly slap your knees to this one)

Rules can be helpful,
Rules can be good.
They help us behave,
The way we should.

We follow the rules,
And we don't do wrong.
The world's a happier place
When we all get along.

OUR RULES

We raise our hands to speak.
We work quietly at our seats.
We use voices soft and sweet.
We keep our places tidy and neat.
We are helpful, friendly, and fair.
We take turns and willingly share.

 Class Promise

Today is a new day!
I will act in a safe and healthy way.
I will respect the rights of others.
I will treat all property with respect.
I will take responsibility for my learning.
Today I will be the best me I can be!
