  Objectives ~

PLANTS ~

 Plants are living things.

Plants vary in size, color, and shape.

Plants need sun and warmth, air, water, and a place to grow (such as soil).

Plants grow in many different kinds of environments.

ANIMALS ~
Animals of all ages have basic needs for food, shelter, and protection.

Animals have different body coverings and different ways of moving.
~ They can be covered with fur, feathers, scales, or smooth skin.
~ They can move by flying, crawling, swimming, climbing, walking, or slithering.

There are many different kinds of animals that grow and live in many different environments.

Plants and animals alike must adapt and change to their environments and the changing weather found in each.

Yet another interesting environment is a freshwater pond.
We learn about the plants and animals typically found there.
We also talk about the weather and locate some of these areas in our own community.
We learn about what plants and animals need to grow and survive,
and we compare ourselves to them.

Little Froggy
to the tune of "I’m a Little Teapot"

See the little froggy swimming in the pool,
The water’s great- it’s nice and cool.
When he gets all cleaned up, out he’ll hop
Squeaky clean from bottom to top.

See the little froggy on the lily pad,
Trying to catch flies, she’s getting sad.
When she catches one, she’ll gobble it up.
Back in the water she’ll go kerplop!

Dashy the Dragonfly

I'm Dashy the Dragonfly.
Swift is my flight.
Over the water -
I'm soon out of sight.
Darting and flashing,
Whatever the day.
Oh!  There goes an insect,
I really can't stay!
